Realm of Imagination - Website:
Key take-aways:
This project involved remaking the website for a local toy shop and craft studio called the Realm of Imagination.
They needed an update that would increase stats all around while looking more aesthetically pleasing than their old design.
To do this, I heavily utilised their statistics to locate potential areas of improvement and adjust any areas that I could see users were getting stuck on. This system proved to be very effective in increasing the websites metrics overall.
Overview:
Overall design:
To start, I set a unified standard of font, colours and interactions throughout. It was vital to get this part right as it acts as the entire designs foundation.
I created the homepage to act as a funnel towards the businesses offerings rather than be information heavy. I wanted the website, and especially the homepage, to get out of the way and let the user get to where they need to go as fast as possible. The large front image and text change after a small amount of time and can also be horizontally scrolled to their other services such as craft bookings.
Online toy shop:
One of the key development points was to increase the online toy sales. The meant that the first thing on the homepage was a large “Toys banner” that, when pressed, took you to the main toys page.
The previous toys page was only a simple a-z catalogue of everything they sold, my changes organised the page and put the most bought toys at the top to increase repeat sales of the best items.
This system of putting the most sold items or services at the top echoed through all pages including the homepage under the main header.
Craft studio booking rework + results:
The initial statistics review made it apparent that the booking system for the craft studio services were causing user confusion. I targeted this heavily and remade the booking system from scratch, using the Square built in booking system and an online form to unify all bookings and sync them with the owners email and till system.
Comparing the same time period across 2 years, my redesign resulted in 122% unique visits increase, 100% increase in page views, 20% increase in traffic directly from google search and 32% increased revenue per visit.
